There are many other yoga nidra practices on my YouTube channel and this playlist

For thousands of years, meditation masters have used the methods of sleepless sleep to learn the secrets of the Self, to discover depths of sciences and arts, and to rejuvenate and to heal themselves.

Yoga Nidra is a state of conscious sleep in which you maintain just a hint of awareness. Your consciousness will function at a deep level which increases the capacity of your mind. In this state, you’ll improve your power of focus, connect with your higher self, and increase your well being. You will discover how to get the deep rest you need each day while reducing your need for sleep. The quality of rest you experience in Yoga Nidra is completely different from ordinary sleep. This is the only known way to rest the unconscious mind.

With the practice of yoga nidra, people can: achieve deep relaxation on a physical, mental and emotional level, maintain a positive state of mind, improve the quality of their sleep dramatically, increase efficiency at work, reduce stress, support healing throughout your body, increase your intuition and expand your consciousness, accelerate the ability to learn, allow your aches and pains to dissipate naturally, and help regulate breath, heart and digestive systems.

Two Brief Yoga Nidra practices, by Swami Veda

A Brief Form of Yoga Nidra
Swami Veda

“This brief exercise is a preliminary form of Yoga Nidra, not full yoga nidra, – only a way of taking quick rests during the day while sitting on a sofa, or in an office chair, or lying down.  It may be done any time for a few minutes.

Bring your awareness to your entire body…

Be aware of yourself from head to toe…

Become aware of your breathing…

As though your breath is flowing through your whole body from top to toes and toes to top…

Breathing diaphragmatically…

Bring your awareness to the centre between the eyebrows…

And maintain the awareness there…

Exhale and inhale three times…

Leave your thoughts, leave your mantra, only the awareness of that centre and of the breath flowing…

Bring your awareness to the pit of the throat…

And visualize there the presence of a full moon orb; unblemished, clear, full moon…

Exhale and inhale three times…

Bring your awareness to the cardiac centre between the breasts…

Exhale and inhale three times…

And now feel as though there is a cave in the heart centre; no thought, no mantra – as though you are inhaling into a cave and you are exhaling from your toes

And a slow gentle flow of the breath…

Inhaling into the cave of the heart, exhaling from your toes…

Flow with that current of prana…

No thought, no mantra… Only the awareness of the flow…

Continue the uninterrupted feel of the flow…

As though inhaling into the heart centre and exhaling from the toes…

And then gently bring your awareness out…

To your senses… to the extremities of your body…

And feeling relaxed, open your eyes and gently sit up.
